1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a fantastic robot vacuum that has several smart features that make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is one of the most impressive features we've seen in a robotic vacuum. It is a great choice for carpets and hard floors. It's also easy to set up and use with the app that guides you step-by-step through the process. Another impressive feature is its ability to return to where it began in our tests. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning, before running out of battery.
In contrast to other robovacs we test, the i3+ EVO comes with an automatic emptying bin that dumps debris into an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging when it's filled. This helps reduce the need for hands-on maintenance and keeps the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it still requires manually empty after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's internal dust bin can hold 2.4L of trash and is enough to get it through five or four cleaning sessions before you have to replace it.
Like the i7, this model uses state-of-the-art floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. However, the i3+ EVO only stores one map, whereas the i7 has the capacity to store multiple maps. The i7 can also utilize its map to create no-go zones and virtual barriers, but the i3+ EVO is not able to do this.
The i3+ EVO does a better job of removing debris from the surface compared to some other robovacs that we have looked at, but it's not the best at cleaning corners and edges. It's also less gentle on furniture, despite being relatively quiet. It was quite rough on furniture, as it forced chairs away. It also made some collisions with the sides of the test bed.
2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro
Whether you're expanding your collection of robot vacuums or just starting out, the Q5 Pro is a great choice. It has an elegant design with powerful navigation and efficient automation at a low price. It's the most efficient pound-for pound model currently available and even beats Roborock's higher-priced models in several ways.

The Q5 Pro's 240-minute run time is also a lot when in comparison to other 2-in-1 robots we have tested. When the battery is low, it will automatically return to its dock, where it recharges before resuming cleaning where it was when it stopped. You can control the Q5 Pro via the app and make voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
This is the first robot we've seen with 3D mapping. This along with other advances has helped it perform exceptionally well in our tests of vacuuming and mopping test. It allows you to plan cleaning schedules, create no-go zones, and view the battery's condition as well as other things. The app is easy to use, but it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit. The feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. As of November 1, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to reflect that this feature is delayed until 2025.
